Album Of The Day: Aerosmith – Honkin’ On Bobo
Aerosmith from recent years hasn’t really been the best to be honest, Just Push Play is pretty dire and they have become mostly known for a power ballad they didn’t even write. However they have done one absolutely amazing album recently, their last album in 2004 that took them back to their blues rock roots, a long way back.
OK it only has one original song but this isn’t a normal cover album and not a single 80’s power ballad is ripped off. All of the covers are proper old blues classics by the likes of Bo Diddley and Big Joe Williams. I love listening to old blues but the trouble is I also appreciate loud music and the grainy bad quality recording often makes it hard to listen to it loud without it just being a grainy fuzzy mess. So this album is pretty much my perfect blues rock album, Ace songs covered by an ace band with decent recording equipment. Perfick.
Best song is probably ‘Eyesight To The Blind’
