Album Of The Day: Tim Barry – Rivanna Junction

Tim Barry - Rivanna Junction album cover AOTD

Continuing with the acoustic theme again today with another singer from a punk band branching out to do his own acoustic thing. Tim Barry started off in Avail but has made a quite big name for himself in folk with ‘Rivanna Junction’, more stripped down than Chuck Ragan using mostly just an acoustic with some violin throwing in some melodys.

Verging into country a bit on tracks such as ‘Dog Bumped’ these songs do let the album down a bit but that’s purely because I’m not really a fan of country. The rest of the album however, when it is more folky, is a great album with excellent lyrics and simple and understated music that fits in perfectly.

Best song is ‘Avoiding Catatonic Surrender’
