Album Of The Day: Glassjaw – Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence

Glassjaw everything you ever wanted to know about silence album cover large

I’m on a bit of a post hardcore trip at the moment, and if your going to be doing that then you need to talk about Glassjaw. They are one of the legends of the genre and came from the New York hardcore and straight edge scenes in the 90’s, with various line-up changes but always consisting of Daryl Palumbo and Justin Beck. In the late 90’s they got there shit together and decided to record their first full length album and entered the studio coming out a while later with ‘Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence’ which got released in 2000 and is now highly regarded as one of the definitive post hardcore albums. An impressive feat considering the band say they had no help from the record label, Roadrunner, and had to secretly record the follow up ‘Worship and Tribute’ because they were trying to get out of their record contract.

Best song on the album is probably ‘When One Eight Becomes Two Zeros’ just because it shows off the bands different styles perfectly.

Video sound not the best quality you can hear it properly by going to Spotify here, but the performance is pretty great so it is worth a watch.
