Album Of The Day: Mötley Crüe – Dr Feelgood

Motley Crue Dr Feelgood album cover

Well, Mötley Crüe, what to say about them? I guess you would probably know them as that band that has the drummer who was in the Pamela Anderson sex tape – you know that Bret Michaels guy…..

Apart from Tommy Lee’s exploration into amateur porn and his show about going to college he did also help to write some amazing albums in the 80’s (Saints Of Los Angeles ain’t that bad as well). Teaming up with a guy that killed Hanoi Rocks’ drummer, Razzle, a dead for a bit heroin addict and Mick Mars who despite having ankylosing spondylitis (a degenerative bone disease) still managed to get through gigs by drinking pints of straight vodka.

The band kind of eclipse the actual music.

It doesn’t mean the music isn’t good though, it is the best party music ever and I will never tire of hearing the opening riff to ‘Kickstart My Heart’. Best song is pobably ‘Dr Feelgood’ but it is a hard one to choose.

It is a long way away from the polished sound they had on Dr Feelgood […]
